Went to Milly's. Aunt Mabel passed away at 78 at 2 a.m., only sick a week

night. We are at Milly's. She had foot surgery today. Got oil change &

10 – Went to Balls. Got new brakes,
tune-up, points, plugs, alternator bearings, wheel bearings sealed at 31,550
miles. Temp dropped 30º.
11 – Went to Hammond to funeral with
Wayne. He & cousins were pall bearers. About 60. Mabel looked peaceful.
12 –Eldon & I came & got
corn, tomatoes & mail. Still cool.
13 – There was frosts around
country.
14 – Cool. I came home, frost hadn't
hit us. Corn was O.K. We went to see Aunt Maud. Leland's had left.
15 – Temp in 60s. We came home after
supper. Stopped at Clyde's to see Aunt Connie. She flys home on Thursday.

Caught 17 Crappies, 4 blue gills nearly a lb. each.

Arrived Huntsville 495 miles about 7. Hard time finding lodging. Finally at
Redstone Motel. Out of town $7.00. Dinner in shirt sleeves.
18 – Left Phyl's at 11 a.m. Had good
visit. Children are so nice. Es. sick with pneumonia. Went to Decatur, saw
LaVerne in new home. Left at 3 for Sylacauga, 200 miles. Had lovely dinner at
Gordon's. Temp in 70s.
19 – Left Gordon's at 9 a.m., drove
to Lake City on 75 – 375 miles. About 140 miles from Jim. Temp 81 today. Have
lovely Motel Americana – new, $8.00.
20 – Ate breakfast Lake City, left
at 9 for Rainbow & Jim's. Saw lot & estates. We got to Jim's at 2 p.m.
1300 miles to here. 50 mile back track. It was 81º today. Hot.
21 – Low 58, high 64. Cloudy &
cooler, we went to Dade City. Drove all around Brooksville.
22 – Low 54, high 65º. Clear. Went
to Church with Jim's. Drove to Wachi-Weechi & Gulf [Weeki Wachee].

cloudy. Arrived at Kissimmee 4 p.m.

hot. Rented cottage $65 a month. Unloaded & bought groceries. Was to Devoy's
this evening. Stayed at Tola's.

& I washed the car. Women cleaned cottage. We stayed here tonight.

70º. Clear. Had dinner at Club House. Pot Luck. Agnes & Jake at Devoy's.

a bird feeder. Called on R.J. We all went to Scoty's Cafeteria for supper near

Church. Had dinner here with Devoy & Tola Went for a ride in p.m. with
Hester's.

Didn't do much. Had stew with Tola, Hester & Julius here. Eva got hair set.

stopped today [Seldon Foote was a Birch
Lake neighbor]. Went to Marcia's to see Gordon. Ate at Shadow Hill [not sure, can't read his writing].

cleared. Sprinkled. Traded camera $50.00 for Polaroid 800, fully equipped. Rev.
Cox called. Had fire few hours.

Tola in front of Tola's trailer. I remember Tola was so proud of the fact that
at least once a year she waxed her entire trailer. Stan & I visited her in
1975 and at the age of about 83 she was
still able to wax her trailer. I also remember that her given name was Pandora
Capitola. Grandma Eva said their mother read a lot and that's how she came up
with their names.
