check-up. Doing O.K. with blood pressure. Went to pot luck at Club & to
Orlando. Superx for drugs.
12 – Left for Mary's at 8 a.m. Had
head-on 50 miles out. Car wrecked. Tola in hospital with broken bones. Eva with
severe lacerations. I had minor injuries. Could all been killed. Other man at
fault.
13 – Both girls doing O.K. Tola
worse off now. Her knee is most concern. Got reports to car insurance, hospital
insurance & have a used car spotted, '63 Plymouth for $1,450. Good buy.
Went to see Tola & Eva.

than switch." She looked like a raccoon or panda. Her glasses were not on
& her eyes were really black. See where cut goes across her nose and across
her right eyebrow & her left eye lid. How close it came to her eyes.

be moved to Kissimmee, but wasn't. Got everything from car.

Plymouth Belvedere 4 door, $1,450.00 with 19,060 miles. Like new. [This is the car Mom named
"Sunshine" as it didn't like to start in rainy weather. It was a
Florida car – didn't have a heater. Mom & Dad had it for awhile, then
Laura, then Stan & I or Laura & Rex? I remember not being able to start
it in Brook, and Laura remembers getting it stuck when she was at Purdue, had
to abandon it, and it got vandalized. It had push button gear shifts! Fun car.]

check on hearing aid. Got one for try-out. Weather ideal. Carol went home today
– had big visit.

game of World Series won by Baltimore.

ear, $145.00. Used.

Wayne's for dinner. Went to Church. Mom didn't go. Saw Bake's.

November 1966

high 52º. Got license plates today. Spitting snow, none stuck. Packed &
loaded.

high 50. Predicted snow & colder. Loaded everything. Started snowing about
mid-noon.
Temp 30. Got
up to 4-5 inches of snow. Drained everything & came to Mishawaka. Got stuck
in drift & had to be towed ($6.00).
4 – Low 22º,
high 46º. Held up going. Got new All State battery $16.95, the best 48-month
guarantee. Snow disappearing fast.

Left Milly's at miles 26,167 at 6 a.m. Arrived Bowling Green 26,543 – 385 miles
at 4 p.m.

Bowling Green in fog, which cleared about noon & we arrived at Gord's at
3:15 in sunny weather, 330 miles, 62º.
7 – Left
Gordon's at 8:30. Arrived Lake City at 4:15, 350 miles. Gorgeous day, about 80.
8 – Arrived
Jim's at 11:15. Not too good. Election – Republicans about swept the nation, 47
representatives, 3 senators, 9 governors. Blow for LBJ.
9 – Stayed
at Jim's all day. All messed up.
10 – Arrived
at Kissimmee about 11:15. About 80. All fine here. Trailer nice. Got a few
groceries.
11 – Getting
settled. Eva came through good.
13 – Went to
Church. Ate at Morrison's. Got call that Jim not good. Called Bill.
14 – Ran
over to see Jim. Saw his Dr. Talked to Thelma.
15 – They
called, Jim was in the hospital. Called Bill's wife. James & Tom on way.
16 – We went
to see Jim & boys. Jim not good but holding his own. Stewey's came to see
us.
17 – Mary
& Glen in today at 5 p.m. Dug up bed & set out 12 petunias. Still warm.
Need rain. Picked ½ bushel grapefruit at Lillian's $1.00, Ruby Red.

Stewey's here, going home tomorrow.

up groceries. Mary's over to see Welk Show. Got card from James, Jr. about his
dad. Stewey's left today.

didn't go to Church. All ate at Tola's.

out of hospital. Still ill. Gloria killed in auto accident.

Thanksgiving at Club. Went to say goodby to Jim.

left for Michigan with U-Haul.

day. Went to Sunday School & Church. Ate at Katie's $1.00.

finished cards. Half dozen left.
11 – Went to
Church & to Walgreens to eat. Rained in night. Finished Christmas cards.

70th birthday. Went to Chastown & shopped. Got pair of shoes at
Kinneys. Rained ½ inch.

Luck at Club. Eva didn't go.

42º, high in 60s. Took Eva to Dr. Riesman at St. Cloud. Blood pressure 170/80.

at 65.

Clyde stopped a few minutes on way west. Helen seemed nice.

Church & ate at new restaurant on plaza.

Hester's to exchange gifts. Rained. Got package from Wayne's.
