29 – Now so warm. Went to Elkhart,
got dresses, hat, hose at Drakes. Also pills.
30 – In 70s. Went home, too wet to
cultivate. Planted 4 rows, 5th planting, Iochief & ½ row onions.

July 1965
1 – Went to see Lulu & she knew
us.

& pulled weeds. Milly's left for Florida. Nice weather. More rain. Had rest
of peas.
3 – Cleaned up house & went home
for day.
4 – Was home for day. Wayne's had
class party, 31 in all. Saw fireworks.
5 – Went home for day. Had rain in
p.m., light. Came home early. Had chard.
6 – Went to see Lulu. We think she
knew us. Big storm in night, nearly 2 inches.
7 – Went home for mail. Mom washed
some. Clyde called. Leah's to come.
8 – Leah's came at 5 p.m. Mom &
I went to Red Barn. Also bought TV at Goldblatt's, $99.88 & stand. Pick up
later.
9 – Here all day. Weather fine.

Julie's with Wayne's. Sailboat race cancelled. Wiped out. Stayed all night.

Goodyear tire $12.20 at 43,000 & 2 fan belts at Balls. Went to funeral home
7-9. Agnes & Ba__ came. Real warm. Lulu looked good.
23 – Hot & humid in 90s. Funeral
at 2 p.m. Wayne's came. Hottest day of year, cooled in night. Big storm 2½
inches rain. More hog manure [the manure
washed down the hill and into Birch Lake, closing the public beach and pretty
much putting a stop to swimming anywhere].
25 – Went to 1st Church
in South Bend to hear Dr. Martin. A lot of Hammond folks there. Good sermon. At
Nancy's for dinner. Collet's here. Ice Cream Social.
28 – Went with Clyde's to see Aunt
Maud. Had dinner at Isabel's. Good day.
29 – Went with Leland to Kiwanis.
Dr. Martin spoke. Women went to luncheon in South Bend.
30 – Went to Three Rivers to shop.
Stopped by ponies. Found Candy had died last fall. Honey Bee had new filly.

on. No races. Wayne's ate with us. Cold. Had fire.

new lavatory for bathroom.

25 – Went to Elkhart with Wayne. To
Milly's for pot luck, 17 there. Clyde, Devoy & all. Had good time. Rained 1
inch in night & 1 inch early morning. Lots of rain.
26 – Devoy left about 9:30 for
Hammond. Another big wind storm & 1 inch rain. Calumet hit.
27 – Went to Elkhart with Wayne.
Walter went home.
28 – Dave's came last night. We all
went to Chris's wedding at Mishawaka [guessing
Christine DeWolf].
29 – Low 40º, high 66º. Coldest of
summer. Went to 8 o'clock Church. Gordon's came at 1:30. Ate at Wayne's. All
left for Dean's in Wayne's station wagon. Wayne won 2nd, 3rd,
& 4th in races.

rain. Canned 12 cans whole tomatoes.

8 quarts more of juice. All for us. Went shopping at Elkhart.
September 1965

2 – Temp 50s – 60s. Went shopping.
3 – Canned 10 quarts tomatoes for
Nancy.
4 – Wayne's came at 10:30. Had 2
races.
5 – Milly's here. Stayed all night.
Low 55º, high 70º. Wayne got 2nd place for season & Mary 3rd
in Regatta.
6 – Labor Day. Low 50º, high 65º.
Added 100 lbs. salt, ¾ full.

canned 8 quarts juice for Nancy. Dug potatoes, got 6½ bushels potatoes, total

18 – Getting warmer. Went to Milly's
& Russell's for dinner. Stayed at Milly's.

Lake, saw White boys & Charlie Baker. He wasn't too good. Got home by 6

blanket for Milly.
21 – Mom ironed. Went to Cass, took Otto.

late. Nice clear day.
4 – Low 32º, high 50. Clear &
wind blowing. No frost. Pope Paul in New York.
5 – Low 30º, not freezing. Good
frost. Got Eva glasses $40.00, test & lens. Went to Milly's. Took Brandy
home. Picked all corn. Still good.
6 – Low 45º, high 60º. Came home
early. Took Otto's stuff to auction.

8 – Low 52º. Cloudy. President LBJ
went under surgery.
9 – Ate last of our corn again.
10 – Went to Church. Wayne's, Dave's,
& Milly's here for supper, thirteen in all. Last time.
11 – Spent all day loading car. Temp

12 – Finished loading, drained
system, ate lunch at Neterers & left home about 2 p.m. Stayed all night at
Milly's. Erma & Rusty there for supper.
13 – Left Milly's at 7:30. Temp 47,
weight 170. Stayed at Bowling Green, Kentucky, 430 miles, $5.00 motel.
14 – Left Bowling Green at 7. Got to
Phyl's at 4:25. They were fine.
15 – Left Phyl's at 2 p.m., arrived
at Gordon's 5:30. Ed took us through arsenal & museum. Nice family &
children.
16 – Gordon & Kay took us to Marble
Mine & around town. Had a real good visit there.
17 – Left Gordon's at 9 a.m. Got to
Lake City, Florida at 5:30. Nice motel, $8.00.
18 – Left Lake City at 7:30, landed
at Jim's at 10:30. They were fine.
19 – Jim took us to Dade City. We
called on the Irions. Nice court.
20 – Went with Jim's to Homosassa
Springs. A real treat. Saw many fish.
21 – Left Jim's at 8. Arrived here
at 11:30. Stopped to order our T.V. Had car unloaded by 2 p.m. Trailer real
nice.
22 – Getting things straightened.
Went to G. Way & Sears. Ordered shower door.
23 – Hester's birthday. Had them
here for cake & ice cream. Tola got sick, gall bladder attack.
24 – Cool. Went to Church. Mom &
I ate at John's Diner. Not too good.
25 – Temp. mild. Transplanted
crotons & spaded front.
26 – Low in 60s. High in 70s. Sears
delivered T.V., hooked on rabbit ears, got good color on 9 only. Got ½ bushel
grapefruit & oranges, $1.29. Still green.
27 – Washed. Low around 60º, high in
70s.

hooked up T.V. Good picture.
29 – Low 60º, clear. Women went to
Scotys with Peggy for dinner. Red & I ate at Steak & Shake & went
to see about awnings.

Hester's. Raining.

1 – Mild & nice.
2 – Got one dozen petunias & a
lot of colias.
3 – Still warm & mild.
4 – Warm & mild. Still having
trouble with water heater.
5 – Normal Florida temp. Went every
night to Revival Services.
6 – Rained about all day. Took
shower curtain back to Sears with Devoy.
7 – Nice Sunday. Went to Church
& last Revival Service at night. All here for 1st Sunday dinner.
Had roast chicken. Dorothy Kilgallen died last night at 52. Heart.
8 – Temp 65º low, high 80. Started
waxing trailer. Big plane crash in Kentucky.
9 – 60s & 70s. Clear. Went to
Orlando to check on heater. Big black-out of all Northeast in New York for
hours. A mystery. Washed trailer.
10 – Low 65º, high 78º. Jim &
Pansy brought James over. Here on vacation. Waxed about ½ trailer.

12 – Put 10 ft. on patio awning
$82.00. Now 36 ft. Mary & Jack here.
13 – Mary & Jack came up for the
day. Got check from Holtz 2 weeks late. Nassau ship sank, 90 lost.
14 – Went to Sunday School &
Church. Ate at Pansie's. Hot, near 80º.

& sowed rye grass.

Duncan grapefruit. Real large & good. 85¢. Had
Pot Luck – 57 there.

a.m., up to 70 some.

waxing trailer. Called on McCoy's. Got word that Frank Leas died today at noon.

Jack here again. Finished trailer. Called on Brunsdon's.

Church & Hester's for dinner. Singing started tonight.
22 – Normal. Frank Leas buried

meeting with Devoy. Played Bingo – won 4 times. Oliver worked on heater. Mom
had check-up. Blood pressure 240/110, weight 152. Got pills.

December 1965
1 – Low 50, high 61. Devoy &
Stuey went to Busch Gardens.
2 – Set out pyrocanthis in front
$1.69, also tomato plants.
3 – Low 55º, high 68º. Stuey's left
for home. Social Security check came today.
4 – Low 63º, high 70º. Rained some.
Clyde came this evening from Ft. Worth. Stayed all night.
5 – Low 60º, high 70º. Went to
Sunday School & Church. Ate at home. Clyde left at 8:30.
6 – Low 58º, high 71º.
7 – Low 47º, high 62º. Took Mom to
Dr. Had blood pressure 162/80. He cut her to 1 pill.

Getting out Christmas cards. Slow. Uncle Chas. had coronary last Friday. In
hospital.

Party & pot luck.

check from Ildaco. Donna called tonight at 9 p.m.

Came 6 feet apart.

Orlando. Bought foot stove & 6 x 9 rug, panty girdle – zipper.
